Approach

We undertook a spokesperson audit and messaging development to create themes and a content bank to support fast turn-around commentary. This was mapped against an eight week rolling news hook calendar to identify opportunities for commentary, updated at weekly editorial meetings to agree priorities.

We also set up a dedicated media briefing programme for CBRE spokespeople targeting top tier national business, economics and property journalists.

Results
  • Year on year increase in national print, online and broadcast coverage of 63%.
  • Relationships secured and developed with key broadcast media across BBC, Financial Times and The Times alongside property trade media.

We established a national media briefing programme positioning the CEO and senior team as experts on issues associated with housing in later life – from inheritance to care, housing design to supply.

Local, regional, trade and national media relations were undertaken to maximise the power of natural news generated by each village.

Results
  • Average of 10 items of national coverage per month in national media.
  • Since 2001, Audley has opened 10 villages to wholly positive reception and in Q3 2015, Audley secured additional investment of £150m that will contribute to a doubling in size by 2020.

We created a detailed data model analysing the growth in the size, value and importance of the private rented sector.

The data was used to create a half yearly report, providing a platform for Kent Reliance market commentary. The report had an added focus on limited lending - key growth area in response to regulatory changes.

Alongside newsroom activity, content used within client and prospect marketing communications, as well as social media.

Results
  • Inaugural edition secured 14 national hits, including FT, Guardian and Daily Mail.
  • Two further editions have followed with the most recent securing 76 articles since launch, including 25 national hits and blanket trade coverage.
  • Data used in AGM and annual reporting by One Savings Bank to present case for PRS growth, acknowledged as supportive to share price to investors.

Using messaging of ‘by developers, for developers,’ to differentiate the business from competitors, we created a focussed newsroom, based on macro commentary and expert viewpoints on market trends, alongside a comprehensive trade and national briefing programme.
Results
  • Since launching the PR activity at the end of 2015, we have secured over 50 pieces coverage, securing cut through in national media such as the Independent, The Times and Mail Online.
  • Alongside CEO profiling in key trade media, PR has directly helped two secure two new clients for the business.
